Ten Years of BeLonGing

A short video has been released this morning (Monday, June 24) to celebrate ten years of BeLonG To, Ireland’s national organisation for LGBT youth. The video features reflections by some of the group’s friends and allies over the last ten years, including Senator David Norris, Cork hurler Donal Óg Cusack and Frances Fitzgerald TD, Minister for Children & Youth Affairs.

The video also features the experiences of both current and former members of BeLonG To, who express the importance and positive effect the group has had on their lives. The work of BeLonG To was recently praised highly at the International Conference on LGBT Youth, which took place last week in Dublin as part of the Irish EU Presidency. The group’s achievements have also been praised by the United Nations for their work against homophobic bullying in schools, namely with their successful Stand Up! campaign.

As BeLonG To is a charity, every donation is not only appreciated, but also necessary. Microsoft Ireland has recently announced that every donation given to BeLonG To via their mycharity.ie sponsorship page will be met with an equal donation by Microsoft. Staff from Microsoft Ireland will also be marching alongside BeLonG To at this year’s Dublin Pride parade, taking place this coming Saturday.

More information on BeLonG To, its services and associate groups around Ireland can be found at belongto.org.
