According to numerous news reports, the Dallas Cowboys are considering taking on the defensive end, who was let go from the St. Louis Rams recently. According to NFL Media, The Texas-based team plan to bring Sam in for a physical today. If the rookie passes, Sam will be added to the team’s practice squad.
Last weekend, the St. Louis Rams let Michael Sam go from their draft squad, cutting the team down to 53 men. Jeff Fisher, the Rams’ coach, made it clear to the media that the cut was purely based on Sam’s football skills, despite some criticism from Sam’s supporters wondering if his sexuality came into play.
“It was a football decision and it was no different than any other decision that we make,” said St. Louis Rams’ Coach, Jeff Fisher. It was a football decision back in May to draft Mike. And once again, it’s been about football.”
“I was pulling for Mike, I really was,” Fisher continued. “I don’t say that very often, but Mike came in here and did everything that we asked him to do. […] But as we said on the front end of the whole… when we drafted Mike, on the front end, we mentioned that this was going to be a tough road.”
If all goes well with today’s physical test, Michael Sam may soon join the Dallas Cowboys.
