Gabe Lopez is an openly-gay singer, songwriter and music producer, who has worked with the likes of New Kids On the Block, Belinda Carlisle and James Brown.
Lopez’ latest single, Cuz U Like Boys, is a tongue-in-cheek play on sexuality, and is from his third album, It’s Obvious It’s Obvious. The Godfather of Soul, James Brown, once stated to the press, “Mr. Lopez gets the funk. He gives us hope for the future of music.” Lopez at the time had written two songs for what would be Brown’s final album. There are elements of soul and funk on Lopez’ new album, but the album is mostly steeped in pop-rock with influences that range from dance to indie to ballads.
Lopez recently opened for Belinda Carlisle on her 2014 UK tour at venues such as the IndigO2 in London, Manchester Cathedral, Birmingham Town Hall and more. Lopez’ songs have received strong radioplay, and he recently has been featured on American radio and in clubs with his new singles “Red Light. “Butch Cassidy”,” “Hush Your Mind” and “Cuz U Like Boys.”
