Galway Pride Festival 2016 – August 15th to 21st

Screenshot 2016-05-18 01.12.11The newly elected committee of the Galway Pride Festival would like to introduce you to the rebranded festival taking place from August 15th to 21st 2016.

Changing from Galway Community Pride to the Galway Pride Festival, this all new event will encompass everything that makes our city the cultural magnet that it is. Our aim is to encourage involvement from the wider community, and to highlight the great variety of people that make Galway such a vibrant and exciting place to live and visit.

The all new committee consists of an amazing cross-section of the community from successful local business people to the students of NUIG. Chaired by Bruce Henry, himself a successful event planning and management businessman, this year’s event promises to be real celebration of the LGBT+ community and Galway, that will see them build bridges with the city and it’s people, as well as supporting the Galway 2020 bid.

Events throughout the week will include evenings of information and awareness, arts and performance, music nights (DJ’s and live bands), pub quizzes, film nights, and of course the unique and colourful parade through Galway on Saturday, all based around the LGBT+ community and its friends and families.

The Galway Pride Festival committee would welcome expressions of interest from people wishing to take part in this exciting and rewarding festival, from street entertainers to volunteers.

The following fund-raising events are scheduled to take place:

 May 25th 8pm – VHS Club “Grease Sing-a-Long” at the Loft, Seven Bridge Street Bar, Galway.

 June 2nd 8pm – “And the category is… quiz!” at McGettingans, Prospect Hill, Galway.

Details of these events and further information can be found on the facebook page
