IDGTF 2016 would like to thank everyone who make the 13th International Dublin Gay Theatre Festival a success in May.
IDGTF 2016 write to thank all who supported the festival in any way and say:
“Please tell us what you though through our online comment sheet – we’d love to get your feedback as we reflect on Festival 2016.
Firstly a big thank you to our audience – local in Dublin, people around Ireland and of course our great supporters who come from around the world to see the Festival. We are delighted to report a fantastic 30% increase in audience numbers in 2016. After a challenging 2015 this gives us great encouragement for the future.
Thank you too to our participants and diverse and exciting works they brought to the Festival. To present live theatre for one week only in a new setting, city or country requires incredible artistic and logistical dedication.
The range of nominations and winners in the Festival Gala Awards Night is a testament to the quality of works on offer. But every production was a winner by putting the diverse stories of LGBT people on stage.
Thank you to our amazing volunteers who are at the heart of the Festival. IDGTF is run on an entirely voluntary not-for-profit basis so without the tireless work of our volunteers the Festival couldn’t happen.
If you are interested in volunteering as we begin to plan Festival 2017 please contact us at email@example.com.
Finally a big thank you to all of our sponsors and supporters.
Firstly we acknowledge the invaluable financial support of the Arts Council, Dublin City Council and Fáilte Ireland as well as the very generous support of RTÉ Supporting the Arts.
We would also like to thank Derek and Bryan who generously gave us their premises on Parliament Street for our Pop-up Shop. Watch out for more news as they transform the premises into an exciting new venue.
Thank you too to Flanagan’s Restaurant on O’Connell St Upper for generously hosting our Festival Box Office and Festival parties.
We were delighted with the proceeds raised by our raffle which will be invested into bringing more new talent to the stage in 2017. This would not have been possible without fantastic prizes donated by Hotel Westport, Galway Bay Hotel and The Gibson Hotel Dublin
Thank you too to our venues and to our Festival Club venues for their support.
There are so many others who played a role in Festival 2016 and we would like to thank them too.
In Pride Month and in the light of the tragedy in Orlando it is essential that we continue to come together and proudly and fearlessly tell our stories, share our experiences – sad, happy, funny, provocative, triumph and persecution – and present them to the wider community.
Let’s be proud of what we all achieved together.
Festival 2017 takes place from May 1st to 14th 2017 so save the dates!
We are now accepting applications. Email firstname.lastname@example.org for more.
