FEDERATION OF GAY GAMES: CITIES CONTINUING 2022 GAY GAMES XI BID PROCESS

fggBidding organizations include 11 cities from North America, Latin America, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia

The Federation of Gay Games (FGG) announced yesterday the cities that have submitted Letters of Intent (LOI) and the respective fees for the 2022 Gay Games XI bidding process.

The 11 cities bidding on Gay Games XI are: Austin, TX, Dallas, TX, Denver, CO, Los Angeles, CA, Salt Lake City, UT, San Francisco, CA, Washington, D.C. (USA), Cape Town (ZAF), Guadalajara (MEX), Hong Kong (CHN), Tel Aviv (ISR).

Officer of Site Selection, David Killian states, “This is a competitive and lengthy process, and we are grateful for all of the organizations’ hard work. The impact that the Gay Games has in host cities is incredible in terms of culture, sport, economic impact, history and most importantly furthering all matters of LGBT+ equality.”

FGG co-president Joanie Evans added: “The site selection process is one [of] our most vital tasks, and we take great pride in our process. Our grattitude to the interested host organizations for sharing our vision of promoting equality in sport and culture.”

Final Bid Books are due on 30 November 2016. The vote for the host of Gay Games XI from three finalist candidate cities will take place in October 2017 at the FGG Annual General Assembly meeting in Paris, France. The complete bidding timeline is available here:

The Gay Games was conceived by Dr. Tom Waddell, an Olympic decathlete, and was first held in San Francisco in 1982. Subsequent Gay Games: San Francisco (1986), Vancouver (1990), New York (1994), Amsterdam (1998), Sydney (2002), Chicago (2006), Cologne (2010), Cleveland+Akron (2014), and Gay Games 10 takes place in Paris in 2018.
