In light of recent events in Orlando, and other incidents around the world, security has been a big concern of the Galway Pride Festival committee and is always a concern to the LGBT+ community.
“We’re organising events around the city and want our community to see these as safe spaces,” said Bruce Henry, committee chairperson and local businessman.
“We’ve partnered with various businesses around Galway and Ireland,” he continued, “and I’m pleased to say Delta Security in Oranmore have come on board as a major sponsor and are donating a full security team for our main event.”
Delta Security Group’s partnership with the Pride Festival will ensure the main event on Saturday 20th August will be a safe space for the LGBT+ community, it’s family and friends.
The partnership programme developed by Mr. Henry and the Pride Committee has been a great success, and has seen businesses such as the Harbour Hotel, Quay Dental, Cava Bodega, and Seven Bar join and support this year’s festival and promote equality and inclusivity within Galway.
Details of all the events for the festival will be announced shortly, but until then you can support Galway Pride at the fundraiser in the Loft at Bar Seven for The Newlyweds Game on Thursday 21st July.
Hosted by the perfect pairing of Jay Molyneux of the Jay Molyneux Dance Company and local drag queen Dixie, winner of the In Your Face Drag Race, this event promises to be fun and certainly entertaining.
Doors open at 8pm, and entry is only €5.
