Twelve leaders were shortlisted from a wide cross-section of private and public sector employers to recognise their contribution in 2016 to making Irish workplaces LGBT inclusive.
The shortlist for four categories was announced yesterday. Each of those shortlisted are role models in driving change in Irish workplaces on LGBT equality, diversity and inclusion. The awards are: Senior Leader of the Year; LGBT Role Model of the Year and Ally of the Year. The shortlist for LGBT Employee Network of the Year has also been announced.
“The role models shortlisted today are demonstrating how important LGBT equality and diversity is to Irish workplaces and business. These leaders are clearly showing that LGBT inclusion is a business imperative for successful organisations that wish to attract top talent, nurture and develop their own staff and support their diverse customer base. They are playing an integral role in creating a culture that values diversity and LGBT people”
said Eimear O’Reilly, Workplace Equality Index Lead, GLEN.
“Being a role model and leader is really important in providing a roadmap for future LGBT leaders on the infinite possibilities LGBT people have in Irish workplaces”
added Margot Slattery, Country President, Sodexo Ireland and Northern Ireland, and last year’s Senior Leader of the Year for LGBT Equality. Margot is Co-chair of GLEN.
The winners of the 2016 Leadership Awards will be announced along with the prestigious index of Best Places to Work for LGBT Equality at the Workplace Equality Index Awards 2016, on 20th September in Dublin.
