ILGA is the International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex Association, an umbrella organisation of more than 1200 member organisations in all continents and articulated in six regions, i.e. Ilga-Oceania (Aotearoa/New Zealand, Australia and Pacific Islands) Ilga-Asia, Ilga-Europe, Ilga-LAC (Latin America and the Caribbean) Ilga North-America and PanAfrica Ilga.

Established in 1978, ILGA enjoys consultative status at the UN ECOSOC Council, publishes an annual world report and a map on legislation criminalising or protecting people on the basis of their sexual orientation and/or gender identity or recognising their relationships, a Trans Legal Mapping Report, an ILGA-RIWI Global Survey on attitudes towards LGBTI, and several publications on LGBTI related advocacy at the UN.

The post holder will be responsible for communication between ILGA and its institutional funders, particularly foundations and government bureaux and is the main grant writer at ILGA.

In the framework of the post, the person will report to the Finance Manager, and will be required to work closely with the Finance Manager and the Executive Director to ensure both the continued strengthening of existing funding relationships with donors and securing sustainable growth through new funding relationships. The development officer will be responsible for leading donor identification, prioritisation, engagement, negotiation and securing grants. They will also be responsible for ensuring the reporting requirements of donors, and monitoring & evaluation to achieve this are delivered in a timely and efficient manner, and in effective collaboration with colleagues.
