Anti-LGBT Persecution in Chechnya – Two Ways to Show Solidarity

You have no doubt heard about the horrifying persecution the LGBT+ community in Chechnya are facing by government forces.

BeLonG To has been in contact with their colleagues at the Russian LGBT Network, and they have advised them about the terrifying reality on the ground.

There are direct steps you can take to help support the LGBT community in Chechnya.

BeLonG To is collecting letters of support from young people, staff, and board members in BeLonG To, to send to colleagues over there.

If you would like to write a note expressing your solidarity and support, please email it to

They will print out and send those messages of solidarity to the Russian LGBT Network.

In addition, the International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, and Intersex Association (ILGA) Europe is collecting donations for very practical aid to those under attack, including food, clothes, and money for travel out of Chechnya.
