As planning continues for the Galway Community Pride celebrations, a fundraiser is taking place in Nova in the West End. A fun evening of Bingo will take place on Wednesday 17th May with cash prizes up for grabs! and ALL are welcome!
“Raising funds it essential to ensure we deliver a community Pride festival that Galway and its LGBT+ residents and allies deserve”
said Rob Partridge, the current chairperson of the committee.
The Galway Community Pride celebrations kick off on Monday 7th August, with the weeklong event seeing visitors from all around the world joining the LGBT+ community, to celebrate all that culture has to offer.
Harnessing the support of local businesses and organisations, the festival sees a range of events taking place, from flag-raising to mental health awareness talks. The committee have planned educational workshops, a cheesy pop night, and an evening to celebrate the diversity of the LGBTQIA+ community, not forgetting the comedy night or main party on Saturday, which usually attracts big crowds, and sees numerous bars around Galway host their own LGBT+ Pride events.
A newcomer to this year’s celebrations will be the Pride of Galway Awards, with the nominees being chosen by the general public. The committee are putting together the final touches for this, and will be announcing it shortly on their website and Facebook page.
The Bingo fundraiser takes place in Nova on Wednesday 17th May at 9pm, with cards going on sale from 8.30pm onwards.
Everything will be provided, so all you need to do is turn up! With music and entertainment and the chance to win some cash the night guarantees to be a lot fun!
“We’ll go nice and slow initially to get people warmed up, but then they can expect some speed rounds!”
