A week long celebration is coming from 7th to 13th of August, as the Galway Pride committee put the finishing touches to the planned events for this year’s Galway Pride Festival.

As Monday 7th August celebrates the Launch of the the annual event, Tuesday and Wednesday offer Workshops in mental and sexual health.  Thursday sees a BTQIA+ night take place, followed by a Panel Discussion, and ending with a ‘Cheesy Pop’ night, whilst Friday will play host to laughter as the Comedy Night take place in The Loft.Saturday sees the vibrant and unique Parade take place, followed by a Family Day, all while entertainment goes ahead at Nova on William Street.

“We, as a committee, have been amazed and humbled by the support we’ve received from businesses and communities in Galway,” said Rob Partridge, the current chairperson of Galway Community Pride.

Various fundraising events have taken place so far, and have been well-attended, giving the group much-needed funds to plan the week-long festival.
In March, GASS held an evening of entertainment hosted by Martin “Beanz” Warde, and starring people such as Lily Venom, Mr. Pussy, Dusty Flaps, Donatella D’Burqa, and Pride’s very own, Dixie Normous, winner of the 2015 In Your Face Drag Race, an event the 2017 committee are trying to recreate!
There are more fundraisers coming up!  Join Steve Bennett and Steven Sharpe for a night of games, trivia, and surprises – table quiz with a difference! – on June 19th in the Róisín Dubh.
Bingo will be going on in Nova as well as ‘Pride Idol!’  Think you’ve got what it takes to be Galway’s next big thing?  With a big cash prize, and a spot on the main stage, Nova and Pride will be looking for singers to take part in Pride Idol every Thursday, leading up to the main event.

“We’ve some big announcements coming up in the next few weeks that include the final details of the events and who will be our grand marshals to lead out the parade on the Saturday” said Rob.  “With all the preparations we’ve been making this is a Pride Festival is not to be missed.”
