Music: Pontea – Come Over

Los Angeles born, R&B/Soul/Pop artist, Pontea, has just released her debut EP, Unpredictable, and today we feature a great track from the album, called Come Over.

Come Over has a clear, pared-back style, with muted keyboards and stabby, rhythmic beats that allow her amazing voice to shine through unencumbered.

Pontea was always interested in music. When she was growing up, the self-described drama queen and theatre geek was involved in dance, musical theatre and choir. Her piano pieces frequently won composition awards, but Pontea’s songwriting was evolving to a more modern and pop-soul style. After high-school relationships ended, the songs would pour out one after the other. “A lot of my music is about breakups and makeups, the dysfunctions in relationships, moments of weakness and temptation….” she says. In Southern California, she has performed at iconic venues like The House of Blues, The Federal and Genghis Cohen.

Pontea’s debut EP, Unpredictable, sees her stepping outside her comfort zone, while remaining true to her own voice. She is really excited to release this new body of work into the world, which perfectly displays her wide range and unique sound. Watch out for our feature on Pontea in our upcoming August edition of EILE Magazine!
