FGG Welcomes New Chinese Ambassador For Gay Games Paris

The FGG (Federation of Gay Games) is delighted to present their newest Gay Games Ambassador, a professional surfing athlete from China called ‘A Sam’ 许景森 !

A Sam has just ‘come out’ publicly via his Weibo social media account – a first for China! Congratulations to him on his bravery and pioneering action.

The Gay Games Ambassadors are an international group of prominent individuals supporting the goals and principles of the Gay Games. As the first Gay Games Ambassador from Asia, FGG are very pleased both for A Sam and for their organisation. This visibility of having a professional Chinese athlete as a Gay Games Ambassador has the potential to positively impact the lives of hundreds of thousands of LGBT+ people in mainland China, the rest of Asia, and across the world.

(A Sam’s words, translated from Chinese) “Hello everyone! I am [A Sam]. I will attend the Gay Games in Paris, France, in August this year and serve as an ambassador.
Being born into [the gay community] is the ultimate measure of our inner courage. Yes, I am gay.

We have the right to choose love and be loved. Gender, age, and skin color are not embarrassment. We are all the same and live in the sunshine. Today, I bravely make the most true self, and I regard it as the best gift bestowed upon me. If my courage can bring comfort to those who feel lonely and helpless, and encourage everyone to support equality, then everything I do will make more sense. Thank you friends!”
