“I am surrounded by rainbow flags, face-paint, glitter and hundreds of LGBTI+ young people from all over Ireland who have gathered to march with us for Dublin Pride later today.
For many of these young people, this will be a life-changing and special moment as they march for the first time as LGBTI+ under the banner ‘We Are Family’”.
“It is also a special moment for Former President of Ireland, Mary McAleese who will march alongside BeLonG To and Youth Work Ireland with her family – joining the parade to showcase the diversity and inclusivity, the love and solidarity that characterises modern family life in Ireland”.
“Minister for Children and Youth Affairs, Katherine Zappone will march with us, one day after launching the National LGBTI+ Youth Strategy – setting us on a path to become a country with full equality for all.
Together, we will march in solidarity with LGBTI+ young people who are isolated from their family of origin and community. We will march for those suffering at the hands of stigma and harassment they experience because of who they are, or who they love.
We are working hard to create a safer, more supportive Ireland for our young people. We cannot do this without you Friend, and on this special day for the LGBTI+ community and allies, we say thank you for your support.
Wishing you a safe and happy Pride”.
And Happy Pride to BeLonGTo also, from all at EILE Magazine!
