Cork Gay Project: News & Regular Events

Cork Gay Project’s team is growing! They are delighted to welcome a new member to the team! Rita Wild joined them last Friday, and brought new ideas and energy right away. They feel they are lucky to have someone with so much experience, and they’re looking forward to working with her. 

Last week, a project member, Padraig, contacted a number of TDs and Ministers, to raise the issue of the lack of adoptive leave for gay/bi dads. This issue was debated in the Dáil, and the government has promised to resolve this issue by the end of the year. You can read more at:

It has been recently announced that the Cork LGBT Archive is now published in the Digital Repository of Ireland! This means that the history of Cork’s LGBT community has been preserved in a format that is open for everybody to access. Cork has a rich history of LGBT activism and, as Cork activist, Orla Egan, commented: “Many of the firsts in Irish LGBT history happened here in Cork.” You can learn more at:

Free Rapid HIV Testing on Thursday 31st of October from 6-8pm, in conjunction with the Sexual Health Centre

Fridays: GOLD Gay Older Gents Social Group meet on Fridays @12 noon

Out Past 10 on 1st Friday @ 8:30 + Movie Club on occasional Fridays

Saturdays: Cork Rebels Soccer Team meeting every Saturday at 1pm, at the Lough Community Centre
