Gay author’s new crime novel ‘Secrets & Lies’

New Crime Thriller by Gay Author

‘Secrets & Lies’ by Barrie Mahoney ISBN 978-0995602748

Barrie Mahoney is a gay author, who now lives in the UK, but has just returned from living in the Canary Islands, after a career as head teacher in the south west of England, school inspector in England and Wales, reporter for an English language newspaper in Costa Blanca, and eventually travelling to the Canary Islands to launch and edit a new newspaper.

He also wrote articles for magazines and newspapers in many different countries, then began writing fiction, and books about living and working in a foreign country. Barrie is often asked to contribute to BBC news items, involving issues for UK residents living in Spain. Brexit and other issues eventually meant a return to the UK to live in Devon.

So, the coronavirus and lockdown were a stimulus for Barrie to continue his fiction writing. Secrets & Lies is Part 3 of the ‘Prior’s Hill Chronicles’ series, and is a crime thriller that is fast moving, intriguing, and exciting. This book is available from all independent book shops, as well as from Amazon in paperback, and Kindle e-book versions.

This sequel to Barrie’s first popular novel, ‘Journeys & Jigsaws’, continues to describe the complexity of a small, rural community, that is hiding secrets behind closed doors.

“Prior’s Hill is a small, quiet village community, troubled by secrets and lies, that seek to undermine the entire village. James Young, the headteacher of the village school, is drawn into a disturbing scenario, involving a mistreated small boy and his criminal, but talented, father. James and his partner, Christian, seek to resolve the mystery, by following a sequence of events leading them to a mysterious cottage in Cornwall, and a tragic encounter with ‘cowboys’ and the Russian Mafia in Spain.”
