Listen to the all new LGBTI+ YouTube chat show
and podcast – Shades of Gay
Bringing you news, views and a touch of shade
Having launched in December of 2020, this YouTube show and podcast is already proving popular viewing. The show sees Jay Molyneux, Susan McGrady and Rob Partridge, all members of the LGBTI+ community, discuss some hot topics, followed by interviewing a special guest.
In the six episodes already released guests have included Owen Hanley, chair person of Galway Pride and Galway’s first openly LGBTI+ councillor, Daniel Considine, a journalist and voiceover artist, and Colum Sanson-Regan, an author, musician, and actor, who rescued Kylie Minogue from an abyss!
The three creators decided to bring some laughter and entertainment to the world during the lockdown, caused by the global coronavirus pandemic.
“Thanks to COVID everyone is suffering in some way with many feeling very down,” said creator Jay Molyneux.
“I thought it’d be nice to try and use our new online skills to create something fun and entertaining and help people smile during this difficult time”.
The first show saw Owen Hanley talk about why the world still needs Pride festivals, after the hosts, along with Owen, discussed coming out, the use of the word ‘straight’, and what were you like at sixteen? Each of the three presenters take it in turns to be the main host, with Rob, or Mama as they sometimes call him, getting the honour of interviewing Santa on Christmas Eve!
Each episode is released on YouTube at midday on Friday, with a new episode coming out every week. There is an accompanying podcast, released at the same time, available from all major podcast services. Guests coming up on future shows include Chris Campbell, an LGBTI+ activist based in Okinawa, Japan, Locran Mc Auliffe, the current Mr. Gay Ireland title holder, and Nick Wolanski, an ex adult film actor turned health and life coach. And the best thing about this regular weekly entertainment, bought to you from the LGBT+ community – it’s fun and free!
You can find the team on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok, all at @ShadesOfGayTV, or on YouTube, by searching for Shades Of Gay TV and on their website: www.shadesofgaytv.com.
